Abstract
Abstract The preparation and spectroscopic study of homobinuclear complexes of 1,5-dihydroxy-9,10-anthracenedione (anthrarufin) of the general formula [(μ-anthrarufin)M 2 (β-diketonate) 2 ], where M = bivalent transition metal ions of the first row, namely cobalt, nickel, copper and zinc, is discussed. The spectral (i.r., u.v.—vis, EPR, ENDOR) and magnetic data of the compounds indicate that they are neutral, possessing four coordinated metal ions with MO 4 chromophores.
