Abstract
CALCIUM and sodium cyclamate and the metabolite cyclohexylamme have been shown to induce chromosome breakage in human leucocytes in vitro1 and in rat spermatogomal cells in vivo2. The similarity between this type of chromosomal damage and that reported for the psychomimetic drug lysergic acid diethylamide3, as well as for caffeine when used in large doses4, suggested that the behavioural effects of cyclamate should be investigated.
