Abstract
Abstract The reaction of 21-dehydrocorticosteroids with amino acids or peptides in phosphate buffer was studied by measuring the fluorescence spectra of the mixture and by identifying the products formed. Changes in the fluorescence spectra suggest that the steroid reacted with the α-amino group with the formation of a labile Schiff base intermediate. The products of the reaction of 21-dehydrocortisol and glycylglycine were identified as cortisol-21-amine and N -glyoxylglycine.
