Abstract
The interaction between clomifene citrate(CC) and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) was studied by fluorescence spectroscopy using ethidium bromide (EB) as a fluorescence probe. It is showed that at Tris-HCl (pH 7.4), CC can react with DNA although the interaction was weak. The major mode of recognition was groove binding between the CC and DNA when the concentration was low(≤1.00×10~(-4 )mol/L). The recognition mode was a mixture of grooving and intercalating when the concentration was higher, perhaps some of CC intercalates into the helix of DNA.
