Abstract
Abstract Molecular modeling studies were performed on the buffer molecule (citric acid/citrate buffer or Tris buffer system) in complex with Ser-His dipeptide to investigate the buffer-dependent property of BSA and DNA cleavage by Ser-His dipeptide deduced from our previous cleavage assays. It indicates that Ser-His is linked with buffer molecules through intermolecular H-bonds, which results in forming of Ser-His⋯Buffer complexes. This intermolecular H-bonding interaction between buffer molecule and Ser-His dipeptide may competitively weaken the interaction between macromolecules (DNA or BSA) and Ser-His, therefore inhibit the cleavage activity of Ser-His dipeptide.
