Abstract
ABSTRACT The interfacial activity and association of 1-(2′-hydroxy 5′ -methylphenyl)-l-decanone oxime was studied in systems containing toluene, octane and mixtures of these diluents containing up to 20% toluene. The relations between free energies of adsorption is similar to those of the interfacial activity, surface excess and molecular area, demonstrating the significant change of the interface character for the system containing 20% toluene. The interface, however is still not fully aromatic. For systems containing up to 5% toluene the interface seems to have an aliphatic character. The toluene presence causes the decrease of oxime association and the formation of solvates. In systems containing up to 20% toluene monomeric and associated species characteristic for octane media and solvates characteristic for toluene media are in equilibrium.
