Abstract
The crystal structures of six dihydrooxazinones, (6S,3R,1'R)-3,6-dihydro-6-isopropyl-5-methoxy-3-methyl-3-(3'-oxo-1'-phenylbutyl)-2H-1,4-oxazin-2-one, C 19 H 25 NO 4 , (6S,3R,1'R)-3,6-dihydro-6-isopropyl-5-methoxy-3-methyl-3-(3'-oxo-1',3'-diphenylpropyl)-2H-1,4-oxazin-2-one, C 24 H 27 NO 4 , (6S,3R,1'R)-3-(1'-cyclohexyl-3'-oxobutyl)-3,6-dihydro-6-isopropyl-5-methoxy-3-methyl-2H-1,4-oxazin-2-one, C 19 H 31 NO 4 , (6S,3S,1'R)-3-[(diethylammonio)(phenyl)methyl]-3,6-dihydro-6-isopropyl-5-methoxy-3-methyl-2H-1,4-oxazin-2-one chloride, C 20 H 31 N 2 O 3 + .Cl - , (6S,3R,1'S)-3,6-dihydro-3-[(hydroxy)(phenyl)methyl]-6-isopropyl-5-methoxy-3-methyl-2H-1,4-oxazin-2-one, C 16 H 21 NO 4 , (6S,3S,1'S)-3,6-dihydro-3-[(hydroxy)(phenyl)methyl]-6-isopropyl-5-methoxy-3-methyl-2H-1,4-oxazin-2-one, C 16 H 21 NO 4 , were determined, and represent the first crystal structures reported containing this type of heterocycle. The geometrical parameters of the heterocycle and the preferred conformations of the substituents are discussed. The characteristic features of the dihydrooxazinones are compared with those of bis-lactim ethers and lactides. An explanation is given for the appearance of the folded conformation by which an aromatic ring shields the heterocycle.
