Abstract
Abstract Montelukast Sodium (MLS) as a corrosion inhibitor on the copper surface in 0.5 mol/L H2SO4 was researched with weight loss method, electrochemical measurements, scanning electron microscope, atomic force microscopy and theoretical calculations. Polarization curves manifest that MLS is a mixed-type inhibitor. EIS reveals that the inhibitors adsorb on the copper surface. Weight loss experiment results indicate the adsorption of MLS on the surface of copper is discovered to accord with Langmuir adsorption. Furthermore, kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of the adsorption process are calculated and discussed. Besides, theoretical calculations are utilized to explore the mechanism of inhibition of MLS.
