Abstract
Acetamiprid (N-[(6-chloro-3-pyridyl) methyl]-N'-cyano-N-methyl-acetamidine) is one of the synthetic neonicotinoid insecticide used in the agricultural sectors. The polarographic method was used for investigation of electrochemical properties and the quantitative analysis at the dropping mercury electrode and Hg/Hg2Cl2,Cl(sat) as a reference electrode in Britton-Robinson buffer (pH 2.0−10) as a supporting electrolyte. The acetamiprid were found to undergo irreversible reduction reaction at the working mercury electrode. The results that were obtained showed that, the BRB with pH 2.2 was the best medium for reduction of acetamiprid on the mercury electrode at the peak potential -1.064 V. The range of linearity was found to be from 1.0 μg ml to 10.0 μg mlwith limit of detection of (LOD) 0.940 μg mland limit of quantification (LOQ) was 3.136 μg ml. The R value was 0.996. The developed method is simple, accurate and economical.
