Abstract
Abstract A complete nuclear magnetic resonance investigation has been made of the compound 2-Chloro-1,4-dibromo-1,2,2-trifluorobutane. All 19F, 13C, and 1H chemical shifts have been obtained and 23 coupling constants determined. The complexity of the spin-spin coupling for the proton and fluorine nuclei, ABCD-MXY, permitted the determination of relative signs of the coupling constants. Temperature and solvent effects on the chemical shifts and coupling constants were also studied.
