Abstract
The chemical structures of steroidal alkaloids isolated from Bachysandra terminalishave been studied by Professor Kikuchi at Kyoto University, these alkaloids were calledPachysahdra alkaloids. Recently, we have studied the steroidalalkaloids from pachysandraaxillars collected in Yunnan of CHINA. By means of systematic isolation, 22 steroidal alkaloids were isolated in crystalline formfrom the 95% EtOH extracts of P. axillaris. The basic characteristics of these compounds arelisted in, Tab 1. Their chemical structures were elucidated based on IR. UV. NMR MS,spectra and. chemical evideces, and are shown in Tab 1. All the compounds belong to steroldalalkaloids of pregnane type, 17 of which, i.e. iso-spiropachysine (2), spiropachysine B (3),pachyaximine A, B (17, 18), axillarine A-F (21, 20, 13, 14, 10, 15), pachysamine H.G(5, 7), pachysanaximine A (12), axillaridine A (16), pachyaxioside A, B (11, 19) andepi-pachysamine B (8), are natural products reported for the first time. The detail of theisolation and characterization of these new compounds Shall be reported elsewhere.
