Abstract
Abstract The infrared and Raman spectra of chloroethylgermane, CH3CH2GeH2Cl, and its Gedeuterated species, CH3CH2GeD2Cl, were measured in the liquid and solid states. Spectral analyses were made on the basis of normal coordinate treatment and the fundamental vibrations were assigned. Two rotational isomers, one with the trans conformation about the CCGeCl bond axis and the other with the gauche conformation about the same axis, were found to coexist in the liquid state, while only the gauche isomer exists in the solid state.
