Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate that the sharp splittings in the luminescence spectrum are due to the presence of /sup 35/Cl and /sup 37/Cl isotopes in the emitting tetrachloroplatinate(II) ion. The analysis is not dependent upon any adjustable parameters. Further, the analysis is different if the emitting species is Pt(IV) rather than Pt(II) and provides further evidence that the emitting species is indeed PtCl/sub 4//sup 2 -/ rather than PtCl/sub 6//sup -2/.
