Abstract
FROM an examination of the hyperfine structure of certain lines of the arc spectrum of iridium, Prof. B. Venkatesachar and L. Sibaiya1 have recently concluded that iridium must have two isotopes, and give reasons for assuming the mass numbers to be 191 and 193. I have recently verified this conclusion by a direct mass-analysis of the iridium ions formed by a high-frequency spark between electrodes made of platinum-iridium alloy.
