Abstract
N,N-Dimethyl-(2-N,N-dimethylamino-3-methylpyridyl) carbamate hydrochloride (aminostigmine, I) belongs to the group of reversible cholinesterase inhibitors. This drug is administered in cases of human intoxication with m-cholinolytic agents (for example, with plants containing atropinelike alkaloids) [1]. 2-Trifluoromethyl-10-(3-diethylaminopropionyl)phenothiazine hydrochloride (fluoracizine or ftoracizine, II) is a drug possessing antidepressant and sedative (calming) properties. This compound produces a strong cholinolytic effect upon both CNS and peripheral nervous system. The drug is used as antidepressant for the treatment of anxious depression states within the framework of manic-depressive psychosis, reactive and neurotic states accompanied by depression, and depression states caused by the administration of neuroleptics [1]. It was of interest to study the chromatographic behavior of I and II upon their joint administration, which is important for development of the quantitative analysis of these drugs. In order to solve this task, we used the HPLC method. Since each compound of interest contains a heterocyclic nucleus (pyridine ring in I and phenothiazine ring in II), the problem of detection can be successfully solved by the UV absorption technique. The purpose of this work was to study the chromatographic behavior of I and II in both normal and reversed phase variants and select the optimum conditions for drug determination.
