Abstract
Kanamycin, a recently discovered antibiotic, has been shown to have considerable activity in vitro against a number of human pathogens.' The marked sensitivity of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Micrococcus pyogenes var. aureus to this drug is of particular interest for all age groups. Since the problem of the emergence of antibiotic-resistant strains of these organisms has been particularly serious2-6 it seemed desirable to determine the absorption and persistence of serum levels of kanamycin sulfate* following intramuscular injection of various doses.
