Abstract
Abstract The metabolic fate of two insecticides, barthrin and dimethrin, which are the chrysanthemumic acid esters of 6-chloropiperonyl alcohol and 2,4-dimethylbenzyl alcohol, respectively, were studied in the rabbit given the insecticides in the diet. The isolated metabolites from the urine indicate deesterification of the esters to yield chrysanthemumic acid and the respective alcohols. Some of the formed alcohols undergo oxidation and appear in the urine as the corresponding acids.
