Abstract
Abstract Reaction of Ga(acac)3 with 5-hydroxyorotic acid dihydrate (5-hydroxy-2,6-dioxo-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridimine-4-carboxylic acid dihydrate, LH4 · 2H2O) in DMF yields the mononuclear complex (CH3)2NH2[Ga(LH2)2(DMF)2] · H2O · 0.4DMF (1). X-ray crystallographic analysis showed that the octahedral anion [Ga(LH2)2(DMF)2]− self-assembles through hydrogen bonds to form a 2D anionic framework; the cation (CH3)2NH2+ derives from the hydrolysis of the solvent. Complex 1 is the first crystallographically characterized 5-hydroxyorotate complex of any metal, and also the first Ga(III) complex with an orotate-type ligand.
