Abstract
A simple and sensitive high-performance liquid chromatographic method was developed for the quantification of famotidine in human plasma. Famotidine and the internal standard 3-[({2-[(aminoiminomethyl)amino]-4--thiazolyl}-methyl)thio]-propanamide were extracted from plasma samples by cation-exchange solid-phase extraction and separated by HPLC. The limit of quantification of famotidine in plasma was 10 μg L - 1 . The method has been utilized to support clinical pharmacokinetic studies.
