Abstract
Abstract Mixed haloforms are important starting materials in organic synthesis, mainly as precursors of dihalocarbenes. For instance dibromochloromethane and bromodichloromethane are used for preparation of phenyldibromochloromethylmercury and phenylbromodichloromethylmercury respectively. These organomercury compounds have been widely used for generation of bromochloro- and dichlorocarbenes under strictly neutral conditions1. Dibromochloromethane has been also empolyed for direct generation of bromochlorocarbene upon action of potassium tert-butoxide2.
