Abstract
From a study of the polarographic activity of 1-vinylcyclohex-4-ene a method was developed for its quantitative determination in reaction media during copolymerization. This method is based on the bromination of the monomer studied with a normal solution of bromine in methanol saturated with NaBr and subsequent reduction of the product containing bromine using 0·05 n (C2H5)4NI in 92% CH3OH. The method was used for the kinetic study of graft modification of butyl rubber with 1-vinylcyclohex-4-ene in benzene in the presence of benzoyl peroxide at 65, 75 and 85°. Reaction rate constants and activation energies were determined.
