Abstract
Methyl 4-methylpyrrole-2-carboxylate, a volatile trail pheromone previously identified from Atta texana, has been isolated and identified from the ant species, Atta cephalotes. The natural and the synthetic compound produce strong trail-following activity in a laboratory colony of A. cephalotes.
