Abstract
Abstract A facile solid-state synthesis of 2-(2-acetamidophenyl)-2-oxo- N phenyl acetamide and N -(2-(2-oxo-2(phenylamino)acetyl)phenyl)propionamide six derivatives has been achieved by microwave promoted condensation of N -acylisatin or N -propionylisatin with various aniline derivatives. The six products were characterized by IR and NMR (H 1 and C 13 ). Only two of them, The N -[2-(4-Bromo-phenylaminooxalyl)-phenyl]-propionamide and 2-(2-Acetylamino-phenyl)-2-oxo- N -p-tolyl-acetamide molecular structures were verified by X-ray single-crystal diffraction. The Br⋯Br intermolecular interaction in the crystal structure of N -[2-(4-Bromo-phenylaminooxalyl)-phenyl]-propionamide was evaluated by DFT/ B3LYP calculation. The antimicrobial activity was evaluated against eight bacterial strains and two fungal species. The N -[2-(4-Bromo-phenylaminooxalyl)-phenyl]-propionamide and 2-(2-Acetylamino-phenyl)-2-oxo- N -p-tolyl-acetamide exhibit selective high inhibitory effects against Aspergillus niger and Staphylococcus aureus , respectively.
