Abstract
[29046-78-4] C4H10Cl2NiO2 (MW 219.72) InChI = 1S/C4H10O2.2ClH.Ni/c1-5-3-4-6-2;;;/h3-4H2,1-2H3;2*1H;/q;;;+2/p-2 InChIKey = OCMNCWNTDDVHFK-UHFFFAOYSA-L (a source of nickel(II) useful for the coupling of a range of aryl, alkenyl, and alkyl organometallic nucleophiles1) Alternate Names: nickel chloride glyme, nickel chloride dimethoxyethane adduct. Physical Data: mp >300 °C. Form supplied in: solid, available from most chemical suppliers. Purification: pentane wash. Preparation: the title compound can be synthesized by refluxing nickel chloride and trimethylorthoformate in methanol for 16 h, followed by filtration and removal of the solvent in vacuo. The resulting green gel can then be refluxed with dimethoxyethane for 16 h and a yellow powder of nickel chloride glyme will precipitate.2 Handling, Storage, and Precautions: air stable; reacts violently with water. Nickel(II) complexes are toxic and suspected to be cancer-causing agents.
