Abstract
As a part of research on new organic electro-optic and non-linear optical materials, N-(2-chlorophenyl)-(1-propanamide) has been synthesized by the standard method. The synthesized material is purified by repealed crystallization. Single crystals of N-(2-chlorophenvl)-(1-propanamide) were grown by the slow evaporation technique. The grown crystals were transparent and were of optimum dimensions (20×5×5×mm3). The grown crystals were characterized by UV-Vis, IR, NMR and powder XRD techniques. The SHG of the crystals was measured using ND:YAG laser (λ = 1064 nm).
