Abstract
Dermatitis Research Group, 1986), provided by Chemotechnique Diagnostics AB, Malmo, Sweden. He was negative to the standard series. He was also patch tested with the various substances that he handled during the chemical synthesis. To exclude a possible lack of reactivity to the hydrochloride of 2-chloroethylamine, the base 2-chloroethylamine was patch tested in equimolar concentrations compared to the hydrochloride (Table 1). 2-chloroethylisocyanate, which is a degradation product of the nitrophenyl-chloroethyl carbamate compounds, and 2-chloroethylacetamide, which is chemically similar to 2-chloroethylamine, were also tested at the same time in equimolar concentrations compared to 2-chloroethylamine. The patient demonstrated positive patch test reactions only to compounds (I) and (II). He reacted to (I) down to a concentration of 0.000 I%, compared to 0.00 I% for (II) (Table I). All other substances were negative. The purity of (I) and (II) was above 96%, as determined by high-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC).
