Abstract
Nowadays a lot of synthetic methods of isopropyl chloroacetate using different catalysts such as sulfonic acids ( p-toluene-sulfonic acid and amino-sulfonic acid ), inorganic metal salts of organic sulfonates (Ce(CH 3 SO 3 ) 3 ∙H 2 O, Ca(CH 3 SO 3 ) 2 ∙2H 2 O, Al(CH 3 SO 3 ) 3 ∙4H 2 O, Zn(CH 3 SO 3 ) 2 ∙4H 2 O, La(CH 3 SO 3 ) 3 ∙4H 2 O, Cu(CH 3 SO 3 ) 2 ∙4H 2 O, Zn(p-CH 3 C 6 H 4 SO 3 ) 2 ∙5H 2 O, Zn(C 6 H 5 SO 3 ) 2 ∙6H 2 O, CH 3 (CH 2 ) 11 SO 3 Na and (CH 3 (CH 2 ) 11 SO 3 ) 3 Fe), ionic liquid s ([(CH 2 ) 4 SO 3 HPy]HSO 4 and [C 1 imCH 2 COOH]HSO 4 ), inorganic salts (Ce(SO 4 ) 3 ∙4H 2 O, NaHSO 4 , KHSO 4 , [Fe 2 (OH) n (SO 4 ) 3-n/2 ] m , CPVC-FeCl 3 , NH 4 Fe(SO 4 ) ∙12H 2 O, PVC-FeCl 3 , FeCl 3 ∙6H 2 O and SnCl 4 ), PCl 3 , heteropolyacids (H 3 PO 40 W 12 .xH 2 O and TiSiW 12 O 40 /TiO 2 ), solid superacids (SO 4 2- - Fe 2 O 3 , SO 4 2- /TiO 2 -La 3+ , SO 4 2- /TiO 2 , SO 4 2- /TiO 2 -Sm 3+ , SO 4 2 — NiO, SO 4 2- /TiO 2 -Nd 3+ , SO 4 2- - Al 2 O 3 , SO 4 2- /TiO 2 -Gd 3+ and SO 4 2- /TiO 2 -Ce 3+ ) and inorganic salts of organic acids (Nd(CF 3 COO) 3 ) have been reviewed in the present paper. The yields of isopropyl chloroacetate are improved by the addition of above catalysts. These methods are having the advantages of simple process and low investment costs.
