Abstract
Abstract Bis(triphenylphosphine)palladium(II) chloride-cuprous iodide or tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium(0)-cuprous iodide catalyze the formation of phenylethynylpentamethyldisilanes from substituted bromo- or iodo-benzenes and ethynylpentamethyldisilane. Concurrent siliconsilicon bond cleavage is not observed. The synthesis of 4-cyanophenylethynylheptamethyltrisilane from 4-bromobenzonitrile and ethynylheptamethyltrisilane was also demonstrated.
