Abstract
Agents for the treatment of viral infections 4-Oxo-1,4-dihydro-3-quinolinecarboxamide compounds R1 = 1−7C alkyl, optionally substituted by hydroxy or NR4R5; R2 = preferably = R1; R3 = H, F or 1−7C alkoxy; NR4R5 = 5or 6-membered heterocyclic moiety having 1−3 hetero atoms selected from N, O, and S in which S may be substituted by 1 or 2 oxygen atoms. The compounds can be used for treating herpes virus infections, e.g. HSV types 1 and 2, VSV, HCMV, Epstein-Barr virus, or human herpes viruses 7 and 8. Specifically claimed are eight compounds, e.g. N-(4-chlorobenzyl)6-(3hydroxypropyl)-1-methyl-4oxo-1,4-dihydro3-quinolinecarboxamide. PCT-WO 2000 405 63; Int. Cl.: C 07 D − 215/56.
