Abstract
Abstract Imidocarb dipropionate was encapsulated in murine carrier erythrocytes. Erythrocytes tolerated up to 1 mg/ml of drug with no untoward effects. Higher concentration of the drug reduced cell recovery and mean cell hemoglobin. Administration of imidocarb in carrier erythrocytes at 0.2 mg/kg reduced the susceptibility of mice to Babesia microti infection . Encapsulation of the drug in carrier erythrocytes resulted in higher drug levels in blood than in animals that had received free drug.
