Abstract
A solution of mivacurium chloride contains a mixture of three non-interchangeable stereoisomers; trans-trans (57%), cis-trans (37%) and cis-cis (6%)[1]. The trans-trans and cis-trans isomers are thought to have a very short duration of action of only a few minutes; the cis-cis isomer has a longer effect, of at least 30 min, but has only about one tenth of the neuromuscular blocking potency of the other two isomers.
