Abstract
Abstract Antimony trichloride was studied by nuclear quadrupole resonance, dielectric properties, and differential thermal analysis, with a view to confirming two previously reported phase transitions. No evidence was found to support the existence of a transition near 63.5°C. The phase transition near 70°C was manifested as a shoulder on the DTA melting endotherm, and as an abrupt narrowing of the NQR linewidth. The dielectric measurements indicate an appreciable conductivity of the solid which leads to electrode polarization.
