Abstract
Reactions of hexachlorocyclotriphosphazatriene with isopropylamine in ether, benzene, or chloroform give five derivatives, N3P3Cl6–n(NHPri)n[n= 1, 2, 4 (2 isomers), or 6], as well as two phosphazene hydrochlorides, N3P3Cl6–n(NHPri)n, HCl (n= 4 or 6). A series of dimethylaminoisopropylaminocyclotriphosphazatrienes, N3P3(NMe2)6–n(NHPri)n[n= 1, 2 (2 isomers), and 4 (3 isomers)] has been prepared and their structures have been investigated by means of 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. These results, together with basicity measurements on the chloroisopropylaminocyclotriphosphazatrienes indicate that the replacement of chlorine atoms by isopropylamino-residues in hexachlorocyclotriphosphazatriene gives rise to both geminal and non-geminal structures.
