Abstract
Abstract 6-Methylamino-9-(β- d -ribofuranosyl)purine, 6-methylamino-9-(2′-deoxy-β- d -ribofuranosyl)purine, 6-methylamino-9-(3′-deoxy-β- d -ribofuranosyl)purine, and 6-methylaminopurine were metabolized to the nucleoside monophosphate level by intact Ehrlich ascites cells. There was no evidence for the formation of 5′-di- and 5′-triphosphate of these methylated compounds. In agreement with the observations obtained with whole cells, 6-methylaminopurine nucleoside monophosphates did not serve as substrates for crystalline rabbit muscle myokinase.
