Abstract
Photodecomposition of the herbicide nitrofen phenoxy)azobenzene, and an artifact, N-[4-(2',4'(2,4-dichlorophenyl p-nitrophenyl ether) in aquedichlorophenoxy)]phenylformamide. Other pathous suspensions under sunlight or simulated sunways involved the replacement of the ring chlolight was characterized by rapid cleavage of the rines by hydroxyl or hydrogen, ring hydroxylether linkage to form 2,4-dichlorophenol and pation, denitration by hydroxide prior to cleavage nitrophenol. Other prominent products included of the ether linkage, and possible intramolecular hydroquinone and 4-nitrocatechol, 2,4-dichlororearrangement of the nitrofen to a biphenyl. phenyl p-aminophenyl ether, 4,4'-bis( 2,4-dichloro-
