Abstract
Summary The in vitro activity of Imolamine (3,4-phenyl-4-diethyl amino-5-imino-1,2,4-oxodiazole chloride) on platelet aggregation induced by ADP, adrenaline and collagen was investigated. The addition of 50–100 μg/ml of the drug completely inhibited the ADP and adrenaline second wave of platelet aggregation, as well as the aggregation induced by collagen. The effect of Imolamine on the production of malondialdehyde (MDA) by platelets was also studied. The addition of several concentrations of the drug to platelet rich plasma significantly inhibited MDA production in platelets stimulated by 30 μg/ml of collagen and 25 U/ml of thrombin. The IC 50 for collagen was 224 μg/ml and for thrombin 215.7 μg/ml.
