Abstract
Abstract A series of new polyamides containing the phenylindane moiety was synthesized from 3-(4-carboxyphenyl)-2,3-dihydro-1,1,3-trimethyl-1H-indene-5-carboxylic acid and aromatic diamines by the direct phosphorylation polymerization method. The phenylindane moiety containing polyamides are highly soluble in polar aprotic solvents, such as DMF, DMAc, and NMP, and exhibit very high glass transition temperatures and attractive gas separation characteristics, i.e. high gas permeability coefficients combining with high gas separation factors.
