Abstract
The in vitro and in vivo activities of a dicloxacillin-hetacillin combination have been studied. This combination shows in vitro a synergistic effect mainly against β-lactamase producing gram-negative bacteria, due to the inhibition of β-lactamases by dicloxacillin. In vivo the antibacterial effect of the combination is greater than that demonstrated by single components. Detectable levels of both antibiotics were still present in rabbits 6 h after a single administration of 30 mg/kg.
