Abstract
Propicillin (' Ultrapen ') is a semi-synthetic penicillin, of the phenoxy series of penicillins. Williamson et al, and Jackson and Rao, have reported on laboratory studies with this compound and Nagley has published the results of its clinical use in acute pneumonic inflamrnatory illness. This report refers to a clinical trial of propicillin in the treatment of chronic bronchitis undertaken at Maidstone Chest Clinic. The preparation propicillin was assessed against penicillin V. and oxytetracycline (Terramycin) in respect of efficacy and toleration, the dosage of each being 250mg. four tirnes daily for a period of six weeks.
