Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluated the efficacy and safety of cefcapene pivoxil hydrochloride in patients with lower respiratory tract infection. METHODS In this andomized,comparative study,28 patients diagnosed as lower respiratory tract infection were treated with either cefcapene pivoxil hydrochloride or cefpodoxime. Clinical efficacy and safety of cefcapene pivoxil hydrochloride versus cefpodoxime were compared. RESULTS Clinical response rates of 100.00% and bacteria eradication rates of 91.67% were observed in cefcapene pivoxil hydrochloride group, there were not significant differences comparing to the cefpodoxime groups(P0.05). cefcapene pivoxil hydrochloride were well tolerated with only mild adverse occasionally. CONCLUSION Cefcapene pivoxil hydrochloride is effective in the treatment of patients with lower respiratory tract infections with high capability of bacteria eradication. The adverse effects are mild and well-tolerated.
