Abstract
Dimethylnitrosamine is a hepatotoxin and carcinogen whose administration is known to bring about a specific chemical alteration in the RNA of the liver cell. Magee & Farber (1962) showed that the administration of dimethylnitrosamine results in the alkylation of liver RNA specifically at N-7 of the guanine residues, and evidence was presented suggesting a similar reaction with liver DNA and with kidney RNA.
