Abstract
Using SbCl3 (mass fraction: 1.5%) as catalyst, the catalytic chlorination of p-chlorotoluene (p-CT) was conducted under the temperature range of 298.15~348.15K. According to the experimental data the kinetic equation of catalytic chlorination reaction for p-CT was obtained as follows: ?d[ p-CT]/dt=k[p-CT]; k = 8.969×10exp(?1575.451/T). The kinetic equations of process producing 2,4-dichlorotoluene (2,4-DCT) and 3,4-dichlorotoluene (3,4-DCT) separately by chlorination were achieved too. The results show that the catalytic chlorination reaction of p-CT is a first-order parallel reaction. The effects of concentration of catalyst on reaction velocity were studied too for the processes of 2,4-DCT and 3,4-DCT preparations from p-CT via catalytic chlorination.
