Abstract
2-Hydroxy-6-bromopyridine is formed by the action of concentrated aqueous solutions of sulphuric acid, phosphoric acid, acetic acid or formic acid on 2,6-dibromopyridine at 160°. The use of phosphoric acid affords a method for the preparation of 2-hydroxy-6-bromopyridine from 2,6-dibromopyridine.
