Abstract
4-Methylclohexane carboxylic acid(4-MHA) was prepared from 4-methylbenzoic acid(4-MPa) over ruthenium/carbon catalysts in sodium hydroxide aqueous solution.Under the experimental conditions, the product selectivity was 100% without decarboxylation side reaction.Alkali species have effected on the conversion efficiency of reaction. The conversion ratio was higher in potassium hydroxide solution than sodium hydroxide.Alkali solution concentration has also effect on the conversion ratio. The highest conversion could reach when n(KOH): n(4 MPa) was greater than 1.25.The conversion of 4-methyl-benzoic acid reached 97.82% under reactive time 95 min, temperature 120 ℃,pressure 2 MPa.The reaction speed rate increased with the increase of support surface area.
