Abstract
2-Hydroxy-N-(pyridin-4-yl)benzamide was synthesized from salicylic acid and 4-aminopyridine.The effects of different reaction conditions on product yield were investigated. The target compound could be obtained in 87.8% yield after heating the reaction mixture(composed of 7 mmol of 4-aminopyridine,8.4 mmol of salicylyl chloride, and 11 mL of triethylamine) at 25 ℃ for 18 h.It has been proved that 2-hydroxy-N-(pyridin-4-yl)benzamide can be synthesized in high yield under the catalytic action of triethylamine. The reaction conditions suitable for this synthetic route are mild, and the process operation is simple and easily controllable.
