Abstract
Phosphonic and phosphonous acids of the indole and the naphthalene series were synthesized and assayed in the pea test and the avena straight growth test. 3-Indolylmethylphosphonic acid proved to be the most active compound among the phosphonic acids, the activity of which was generally surpassed by that of the corresponding phosphonous acids. Compared herewith, substituted phenoxy-methylphosphonic acids and also arsonic acids of the naphthalene series were practically inactive.
