Abstract
Abstract Dibenzotetrathiafulvalene (DBTTF), dibenzotetraselenafulvalene (DBTSF) and tetrathiatetracene (TTT) salts with tin(IV) hexachloride and dialkyltin(IV) (alkyl = Me and Et) chloride anions were prepared by electrocrystallization of the donor molecules in solutions containing excess amounts of [NBu n 4 ] 2 [SnCl 6 ] or SnR 2 Cl 2 (R =Me or Et)/[Ph 3 PhCH 2 ]Cl. The obtained salts with [SnCl 6 ] 2 , [SnMe 2 Cl 3 ] − , [SnEt 2 Cl 3 ] − , and [Sn 3 Me 6 Cl 8 ] 2− anions behave as semiconductors with electrical resistivities in the range of 1 × (10 1 ∼ 10 5 ) ω cm at 25°C as compacted pellets. X-Ray crystal structure analyses have revealed that [DBTTF] [SnEt 2 Cl 3 ] ( mgr 25°C = 3 × 10 4 ω cm) consists of both dimeric (DBTTF + ·) 2 and (SnEt 2 Cl 3 − ) 2 and that [DBTTF] 3 [Sn 3 Me 6 Cl 8 ]·PhCn ( ρ 25°C = 5.6×10 3 ω cm) contains a DBTTF columnar structure and a novel trimerized tin(IV) anion [Sn 3 Me 6 Cl 8 ] 2− . Electronic reflecance and X-ray photoelectron spectra as well as the crystal structures are given.
