Abstract
Lymphoma 8 has been found to be a very convenient tumor for use in the study of the effects of styrylquinolines (1,6,7). This tumor regressed quickly during treatment with 4-(p-dimethylaminostyryl)quinoline methiodide (4M2M)(2)or 4-(p-dimethylaminostyryl)quinoline (4M20)(3,4). Lewis, Hughes and Bates (8) found that rat Sarcomas Nos. 4, 10, and 13 were relatively re sistant to these drugs, although some retardation of growth was observed. We have observed that 4M2M did not cause regression of established Sarcoma 37 or Sarcoma 180 in mice. Since it seemed desirable not to be entirely depend ent on a single type of tumor, experiments have been carried out with the wide ly known Walker Carcinoma 256, which was used in the experiments of Haddow, et al. with dialkyaminostilbenes (5).
