Abstract
Abstract A radiographic survey of the dentition in epileptics showed root abnormalities suggestive of hypoparathyroidism. The addition of diphenyl hydantoin (D.P.H.) to mouse calvaria in tissue culture inhibited the effect of parathyroid extract (P.T.E.)-induced bone resorption. This was seen at concentrations of 25 and 50 μg D.P.H./ml medium. Both these observations suggest that D.P.H. may induce a state of pseudo-hypoparathyroidism.
