Abstract
Two new methods for the synthesis of 6-amino-2-naphthoic acid have been described. One of these, i. e., by way of 6-bromo-2-naphthylamine, produces the compound conveniently and in satisfactory quantities. The other method, i. e., by way of 6-nitro-2-naphthylamine, provides a procedure easily carried out but less satisfactory because of the small yield of 6-nitro-2-naphthylamine upon nitration of 2-naphthylamine.
